A month of maintenance mix-ups comes to a close

The Year of the Maintenance Professional started in January of this year and included a yearlong celebration and appreciation for our on-site service teams. It continues throughout the Spring as all maintenance teams across the Trio portfolio “mixed it up” by swapping properties for a day. Each property hosted another property’s maintenance team on designated days and put them to work with various assigned tasks ranging from pool openings, painting projects, landscaping, and even curb appeal projects. Additional activities planned for this year include specialty training, happy hour, Top Shop competition, and the implementation and roll-out of the Mobile Facilities app by RealPage.

Each Maintenance Mix-Up Day featured a team lunch consisting of hamburgers and hotdogs, tacos, and more. A Trio corporate team chaperone was on-hand every day to assist in the burger flipping and group Jenga game. At the end of each day, the competitive juices were flowing with a friendly game of Giant Jenga. The team with the highest Jenga won the bragging rights and prizes. By the end of April, the hosting team of The Novella in New Haven and the visiting team of Harbor Heights from Mystic won first prize with an overall Jenga stack that reached 36 rows high. It was a close result, with two additional teams coming within one block to get to 36 rows.

The Mix-Up was over before we knew it, with each team hosting and traveling within three weeks. Everyone agreed that the days were fun and getting to know new colleagues was the best part. Each maintenance professional was given a Maintenance Mix-Up t-shirt sponsored by Behr paint, and Plummer Landscaping and RealPage sponsored each lunch. Trio would like to thank all our sponsors who continuously support our efforts to recognize and celebrate our teams each year. Many of our employee appreciation events wouldn’t be realized without their support.

As we look towards spring and summer, Trio is looking forward to many more maintenance-specific events scheduled for The Year of the Maintenance Professional and gathering in person as a company for our Annual Summer Picnic this August. There’s more to come this year, and we’re excited to connect our teams in meaningful ways.
