NEW HAVEN, CT – Trio Properties, LLC announces the grand opening of the luxury apartment community, Whitney Modern. Whitney Modern is a boutique restoration project within walking distance of thriving restaurants and less than 3 miles to the Metro-North Railroad and a host of recreational opportunities.

The 42-unit complex, evenly divided between one- and two-bedroom units, is located at 703 Whitney Avenue in the East Rock section of New Haven, Connecticut. It is blocks from downtown New Haven and Yale University, both significant employment sources, 75 miles east of New York City and 43 miles from the high-tech, healthcare, and insurance employment opportunities offered in Stamford, CT.

“The Whitney Modern is a truly unique New Haven community where we have taken a fresh approach to the design and development process while honoring the historical American Red Cross building. Yet, still simultaneously offering unique, modern apartment homes in the market,” said Jeff Ferony, president of Trio Properties, LLC, a Glastonbury, CT based property management firm.

Apartment construction in New Haven has tapered over the past few years, so Whitney Modern is being delivered at a critical moment in a vibrant rental market that is ready for new rental product.

“The Whitney Modern development is occurring at an ideal time,” explained Ferony of Trio Properties. “It’s an attractive property with an exceptional location offering direct views of East Rock Park.”

Construction on Whitney Modern started in 2019. The community features an attractive exterior design with modern amenities and high-quality interior finishes such as quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood flooring. Other features include the restored Carriage House with a clubroom, a lounge, a game room, multiple televisions, a business center, universal Wi-Fi, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

Employment powerhouses such as Yale University, Yale-New Haven Health, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, and United Illuminated are all in downtown New Haven. The location off I-95 also offers easy access to a plethora of retail locations, including IKEA, The Shops at Yale, and the Connecticut Post Mall.

Whitney Modern is less than 2 miles from Long Island Sound and within 10 miles of more than ten excellent golf courses, including Twin Lakes Golf Course, Pomperaug Golf Course, and Great River Golf Club.

Other nearby recreational opportunities abound. Sleeping Giant State Park, a 1,500-acre hiking destination, is less than 7 miles away. The Sports Center in Shelton, CT, is less than 20 miles away offering an array of indoor and outdoor sports activities ranging from rock climbing to ice skating and laser tag. The shoreline community also provides recreational opportunities, from fishing and kayaking to paddle boarding.

The Whitney Modern is expected to be leased up by the end of June, just time for peak leasing summer so often seen in the New Haven market.
